Phenylephrine vs. Pseudoephedrine
Pseudoephedrine wins.
When I have a cold, I usually take Tylenol Cold to help me feel better. It was my wonder drug because the decongestant Pseudoephedrine worked really well. Now they switched to a “new formula” that uses Phenylephrine and it just isn’t the same. Pseudoephedrine works way, way better. I just noticed that my pack of Tylenol Cold uses the new formula which is probably why I’m still feeling miserable.
So why did Tylenol Cold switch to a new formula? This is actually becoming more and more common. It’s probably because Pseudoephedrine is one of the ingredients in making methamphetamines. They probably have a bunch behind the pharmacists’ counter, but I’d probably have to sign a form, give some ID, agree to a criminal record check, provide fingerprints, DNA, etc, etc.
Luckily, Claire still has a bottle of Children’s Robitussin that contains Pseudoephedrine. A couple of gulps of the stuff and I’m good to go.
