A month with Vista SP1

Today, Windows Vista Service Pack 1 was released to the general public. I’ve actually had SP1 running on my Vista Home Premium setup for the past month since I downloaded it from the MSDN subscribers’ site.

I must say, I’ve been impressed. My biggest beef with Vista was its file-handling capabilities especially slow file copy/move operations. Now, these operations are fast and my systems more stable overall.

The list of changes is available at the Technet site. The number of fixes is mind-boggling. It’s pretty obvious Vista was rushed out the door to appease users who had been waiting for XP’s successor while the developers continued work on SP1. Now Vista is a half-decent product and it seems it can only get better.
