Starting a new blog

I’ve decided to start a new blog.

This blog is now running on the WordPress engine which uses PHP and MySQL for its scripting language and database respectively. All are free and open source software. I have them all running on Windows Server 2003 and IIS6…running in a Virtual PC…on Windows Vista…long story.

I’m trying to import my old CommunityServer SQL Server database but I’m running into all sorts of corruption issues with my recent backups. Those SQL Server 824 errors can be quite nasty. My main cs_Posts table seems to be intact so I’ll try to salvage what I can (I’ll have to write my own custom import tool to read from SQL Server and write to MySQL).

I’m a complete newbie to WordPress, PHP, and MySQL, but with the right Googling, getting set up wasn’t overly difficult.
